Choose A Pearl Engagement Ring

For those of us looking for an alternative to diamonds for our engagement ring there are not many choices available that are acceptable. Rubies are of course always an option but the majority of people aren’t thrilled about the thought of getting a red engagement ring. You could always just follow the crowd and get what everyone else gets but diamonds are expensive and the lab created cubic zirconia option feels like settling for second best for many people.

If you find yourself in this predicament then you should definitely consider pearl rings are a possible choice. This is not something that is purchased by many people for this purpose but in my view this is an argument for rather than against their use. Pearls in general are exceptionally classy and make a great jewelry for all occasions and look fantastic in necklaces and earrings as well as rings.

You probably already know this but pearls are formed when an irritant enters the shell of an oyster or mussel which the creature then covers in nacre with the eventual outcome being a beautiful pearl. The size and quality of the resultant pearls depends on many things including water composition who long the irritant is left inside to develop. Pearls are generally cheaper than diamonds and rubies but the very best are certainly still very expensive.

Cultured pearls are now much more common than truly natural ones with the cultured version being given a helping hand by us to ensure they are produced. Whether you get natural or cultured is largely an irrelevance as both make for great pearl engagement rings, although since you will pay much more for natural you might want to give them a miss.

The only negative aspect to a pearl engagement ring in my opinion is the fact they take a little more care and attention to keep them at their best. If you can put up with that then their is no reason why they shouldn’t be chosen over a diamond ring if the opportunity arises.
