Great Venues for Nashville Outdoor Weddings

There’s nothing I love more than an outdoor wedding. Yes, there’s always a risk that it might rain, and you have to have a backup plan just in case it rains on your big day. The traditional types say that a wedding isn’t a wedding if it isn’t done inside a church, but, as I always tell them, churches are made by man, but God created Nature. No matter how beautiful a church may be, it’s nothing compared to the incredible beauty of the great outdoors.

If you’re thinking of getting married in the Nashville, Tennessee area, and would like to have your Nashville wedding outdoors, here are some of my recommendations.

Find a great location. Fortunately, there are many options. Several of the wedding venues in the Nashville area also offer the option to host an al fresco wedding, and they are well-prepared in case the weather turns bad. One of these venues, Historic Cedarwood, has a gorgeous garden that many couples choose to be the place where they will tie the knot. They also several places within the venue where you can move the venue in case of rain. One of them is the covered reception area; another is the barn cover which, contrary to what you might expect, is actually very pretty, and the house itself.

Another great Nashville Wedding Venue is the Riverwood Mansion, which is famous for its garden weddings. Some years ago, they added a pavilion that connects to the mansion, and it has been a popular place for receptions to be held. Weddings can also be held there if necessary. They have a large, friendly staff that’ll be able to move the wedding to the Pavilion in case of inclement weather.

Another option for some couples is to reserve one of the parks in the town. This is a great choice, as the parks are all very beautiful, but the downside is you’ll have to be creative in making a backup plan. The Sunken Garden in Centennial Park is a great place for an outdoor wedding, but, apart from a shed pavilion across the garden, it doesn’t offer much in the way of a backup plan. If you really want to get married there, you’ll really have to go through your options.

Another great option for some couples is to hold the wedding in their yard. It can be their own yard, their parents’, or a friend’s. The great thing about holding a wedding in a backyard is that most yards are very pretty, and you don’t have to rush around so much because there is no time limit as opposed to other wedding venues, and everything you need for the wedding is within reach.
