How to Reuse Plastic Resealable Bags
Resealable plastic bags are very handy items to have around. They are extremely useful both in the kitchen and around the home. Many times people will use these bags once and then throw them away. However, it is relatively easy, and a money saver as well, to actually wash the bags out and reuse them again whenever possible.
For example, if you use bags for sending lunches to school or work, they can very often be simply washed out when the child comes home from school and reused again the next day. Simply shake the crumbs out, wash it and dry it on a plastic bag dryer. If you do not have something special to hang the wet bags on you should be able to easily improvise something.
In order to wash the plastic resealable bag out you simply fill it with warm water and close the top with your hands while you shake the soapy water around inside the bag. Once it is clean pour out the soapy water out and rinse out the bag thoroughly with warm, clean water. Once all the suds are gone, turn the bag inside out and hang it over a bag dryer.
Bag dryers are usually fairly simple items. Oftentimes there is a long extension that is attached to the base of the dryer. The better dryers have an oval shaped end that the bag slides over. This helps to keep the bag open while it dries. You can purchase these dryers online fairly inexpensively. Some cost around $20, while others only cost $10 or so. The more expensive type are usually made from wood, however the metal or plastic ones actually work better and last longer in most cases.
Make sure all of the moisture has evaporated before putting the resealable plastic bag away, as a damp bag may become contaminated and cause sickness. If the bag is dried properly you should be able to use it several times over.
