If you are like most people, your kitchen has lots of different colored appliances mixed in together with your cabinets. You might have a white refrigerator, a black microwave, and a silver dishwasher, all next to wooden kitchen cabinets. While some people don’t care about how their kitchen looks, others want to a kitchen that blends nicely. Since the cabinets are the biggest part of the kitchen, the appliances can be made to match them. Here are some ideas about how to integrate your kitchen.
When it comes to refrigerators, you have a few choices. As for colors, they pretty much only come in 3 versions, which are black, white, and silver (stainless steel). If you want your refrigerator to match your wooden cabinetry, you will need to get what is called an integrated fridge. These units are designed to have a customized panel affixed to the front of them. This panel should be made of the same material as your cabinets, which will allow the fridge to blend in.
Like the refrigerator, many people choose to get an integrated dishwasher, which works the same way. The dishwasher is placed on the ground surrounded by the cabinets, and a custom front panel is placed on it. Doing this allows the dishwasher to conveniently disappear into the kitchen cabinets. The only thing that gives it away is the handle on the top to open the door. Of course, if you choose stainless steel cabinets, you can then easily integrate your kitchen by getting matching appliances. Stainless steel refrigerators and dishwashers don’t cost nearly as much fully integrated models that you can completely customize. Just remember that everything for kitchens can be customized the way you like it. It is a good idea to look at some pictures of what other people have done with their kitchen to get a feel for what you like.
