Making Money with Clutter
If you are a pack rat and you are ready to get yourself organized, you might as well make a little bit of money out of the situation. There are some very easy ways to turn your clutter into cash.
One of the best known ways is to have a yard sale or a garage sale. These can be great for getting rid of clutter fast, but often, you can end up almost giving the stuff away. If you price your items too high at these events, people will just walk away and you will have to haul the stuff back into your house or give it away to charity.
If you have the patience to wait about a week, you can often increase your take considerably, by paying a visit to eBay. If you have never tried selling on eBay, you are missing a wonderful opportunity to turn your unwanted items into treasure.
Certainly, there are some things that sell better than others on the site, but honestly, a short visit might surprise you when you see what sells. People buy and sell pretty much anything you can imagine on the site. If you have gently worn designer clothing, someone will probably be interested in buying them if you sell them as a large lot. If you have some type of collection that you have lost interest in, there is probably someone out there just starting the same type of collection who might be interested in buying what you have.
A great example of something that sells is vintage wedding dresses. Some women intend to keep the dress they were married in for their own daughter to wear. That is wonderful, but there are also women who still have the dress that started a failed marriage. If they no longer want the dress, these ladies can turn that beautiful old dress into money. There are many ladies out there looking for a discount deal on a wedding gown.
Another great thing about eBay is that you can find some very unusual items being bid on. Do you have old boxes of assorted stuff from when you were growing up? Believe it or not, the small things you find in there might also be worth some cash. Even vintage candy is collectible! That old candy bar you forgot about in 1985 might actually get some bids!
No matter what kind of clutter you have, it is probably worth your time to check on eBay to see if anyone is buying. You can always still give the stuff away or put it in the garbage, but you should definitely check its value first.
