Safety Features and the Dog collar
City governments have made safety an important part of any dog collar. The typical collar must bear a tag, a tag paid for at offices within City Hall. City workers that search down and recover “loose dogs,” look closely for one of those tags. Of course, the collar on a dog could demonstrate other safety considerations as well. It might, for example, have an additional safety feature.
A dog owner might place an adjustable dog collar on his or her pet. In that case, the safety of the pet depends on the nature of the clasp on that same collar. A dog owner can feel more confident about the safety of a pet, if that owner can adjust a collar with a quick release buckle. When a collar possesses such a buckle, there is little chance that it might choke the innocent dog wearing it.
Use of a reflective dog collar helps to guarantee the nighttime safety of any canine friend. Such a collar responds to the pair of beams coming from vehicle headlights. Those vehicle lights can hit the fluorescent chemicals in the collar. They then activate those chemicals, causing them to “light up.”
A well-trained dog is generally safer than a “dog on the loose.” Still, the owner that decides to buy and use a dog-training collar should become familiar with the theory behind that collar. That collar can emit an electronic jolt. A safe collar produces a jolt that can startle a dog, but that jolt should not force the dog to endure a moment of pain.
The hunter that relies on the companionship of a dog ought to think about that pet’s safety when buying a collar. Issues that relate to dog safety and hunting will be reviewed in a separate article.
Dogs of the future could enjoy a safer life than dogs of today. In the future, dog owners will be better able to keep track of their pets. The technology behind any such dog tracking system is alluded to in yet another article.
At this time, every dog owner should make a point of placing some type of dog collar on his or her pet. A missing dog can thus be identified by the number on its collar. Even if you do not care about any other rule issued by your city government, you should at least care about any regulations directed at dog owners. Your dog counts on you to insure its safety.
