Some Auto Body Brake Information

An automobile has many features that make it operate. It has an engine and transmission that turn shafts and make it go frontwards and backwards. They also have a feature to slow down or stop this action. The brake system is made up of several parts. These parts work together to slow down or stop your vehicle.

A braking system has many parts. The action starts with the brake pedal that triggers the pump in the master cylinder. This sends fluid pressure through the brake lines to the brake calipers or drums. The calipers apply pressure to the brake pads to slow and stop the rotor. The drums move the shoes and apply pressure on the drums to slow the vehicle. If one part in the braking system has a problem you have trouble stopping.

Most of the time brake problems are taken care of with a little maintenance. Brake pads and shoes need to be replaced every once in a while. It’s not an exact science, but luckily with pads there is a sensor that hits the rotor when it is time to replace pads. This sensor will create a squealing sound when the car is moving. Sometimes you can have trouble with the brake caliper. This might be the problem if your brakes are sticking or get stuck completely. The master cylinder rarely has a problem. If you have a hole in a line your brakes will not work. Additionally, there is also an anti lock system in most braking systems today.

Auto body brakes are an extremely important part of your car. This is the feature that is generally responsible for keeping you out of an accident. They can keep you out of a fender bender or out of a bad accident that can be life threatening. Make sure you maintain your cars brakes there is a lot riding on them. It might not only be you they keep safe – remember your family and friends are on the road too.
